The Angst is Eternal: Middle School Dance

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

  1. Is that you sitting in the corner? Seriously, this looks like a still from the X-Files. It's the scene where all the alien children gather in the school gym before the mothership sucks them all up and takes them back to their home planet. What? That never happened at your high school?

  2. Aaaak! The horror! All hormones and no finesse.

It happened at my school you know. I was hiding in the lavatory at the time...

  3. Omigod, you just took me back 20 years. I was the girl doing that funky dance that looked more like the characters in Pulp Fiction (and this was years before that was cool).

  4. Great photo!

I remember dances at our school, albeit, they were few and far between - it was a Catholic school. But the Brothers who taught at the school, and who were also chaperones at these dances, always walked around splitting couples up, saying, "Leave room for the Holy Ghost [between you]"

  5. This is wonderful. I think it really captures the surreal atmosphere that I know is present at dances like this.

  6. I just had a flashback so vivid it made my face break out and my voice crack.
