Tuesday Photo: Lamp

Into the void left by the demise of Photo Tuesday leaps some enterprising unknown German who gives us Tuesday Photos. Today's theme is Lamp. I am posting and entering not only to support this new upstart meme, but because so far there are only 4 entries so I may place 4th! My highest placement yet! Posted by Picasa

I'm a Premature Epostulator: Confessions of an Over Eager Poster

This is what I SHOULD have posted for Macroday: Money and WOULD have had I not been so eager to be first because I couldn't imagine as much variation in the ideas as there was.

Apologies this week go to Hans De Loof who I ripped off when I saw this.

Macroday: Money

Do people still carry cash?

Note to other Macroday Gentle Participants: You can tell that I didn't cheat last week since I was LAST!

PHILISTINES!

I'm gonna try to do worse this week! Regrets and second thoughts may be seen here.

Mmmmm....Corn Dogs. Some of Them New

For Mr Fabulous

Which brings me to a non-carnival corn dog reminisence. A few years ago my friend, Paul, and I were traveling...ummm...south. I can't remember why. Anyway, we stopped at a truck stop off 1-95 in Maryland and near the register they had 2 piles of corn dogs behind a window and under lamps like these. One pile was marked One Dollar Each and the second pile was marked Two for a Dollar.

"What's the difference between these corn dogs?" I ask cash register dude and without missing a beat he says:

"The ones that are 2 for a dollar are used." Posted by Picasa

Why, when I'm on vacation, do NONE of those TV Networks like AMC or TNT or TBS have on a James Bond-a-thon? Goooooooooooldfiiiiiiiiiiiiingah!

You Can Have Your Alien and Your Sasquatch Photos

Me cooking a meal at home? A REAL photographic challenge. Posted by Picasa

Moody Monday: Calm

This guy was trying to fly this but it was too calm. He made a sporting effort of running with it I have no photos of him facing the camera because when he looked over I pretended I was taking photos of seagulls. It's bad enough trying to fly a kite with too little wind without getting it pasted on the Internet for everyone to see. Posted by Picasa

Re: Your Phone Call

You know how sometimes you get invited out, and you can't make it for some reason or another and then later in the evening the group decides, after a few drinks, it would be fun to call you and try to talk to you from someone's cell phone which clearly doesn't have enough bars from a place that is way too loud and the conversation pretty much consists of "Whaaaat", "This is who???" as the phone gets passed around from person to person? One small slice of the conversation that WAS understandable went something like this...

" *noise* and I want you to put *unintelligible* your blog! Can you HEAR? *someone laughing in the background*.........A PICTURE! I DARE....*someone grabbing at the phone and saying 'Let me talk to him'* So when I look at your site in the morning, it better be there!!"

I think this is what Gentle Viewer, coworker, and party attender HBird was talking about.

UPDATE: And now thanks to Gentle Viewer Toady Joe, HBird will have a new nickname - 'Happy Eye Candy For The Masses'.

Nothing Says Summer Like Just Sitting In The Grass For A While

Reworked and Reposted for Photo Tuesday: Lazy

I mentioned to Lance Lockhart that when my nephew saw this photo on the blog, WEEKS after I had taken it, he said to his mother 'She wouldn't play with me.'

So I went back and looked at the other photos I took before and after this one and he was right. He was having some interaction with some other kids that I missed although I was looking right at them but as soon as he saw himself in this photo who knew exactly where, when and why.

Moody Monday: Melancholy

For those Gentle Viewers lucky enough to hear it, there is no more melancholy sound than a train whistle or horn on a summer night. The sound will travel for MILES.

As the Bangor Waterfront grows and is developed residentially there has been a movement to have the trains run silently through the city. I live a couple of miles from the tracks and thought it was kind of silly until I started meeting trains at 'night crossings' for photos and short movie files.

It's melacholy and quaint from a distance but right up close you'd think ALL TRAIN HELL BROKE LOOSE. Posted by Picasa
