Gizoogle

I have never seen Gizoogle before. It taught me that I CERTAINLY gave this post the wrong title earlier.

I stazzand corrected. Yo.

A Pile of Tiny Self Portraits

Well, those sort of photographer self portraits where they hold the camera in front of their face. You know the ones. Posted by Picasa

Double Balls!

Mea Culpa

Balls!

Posted for Tuesday Photo

Although the alternative did give me a chuckle but I'll save it for Half Nekkid Thursday.

After a few minutes I noticed that this photo has a gut churning, ear popping, eye watering, take the bull by the horns OVER SATURATION thing going on that I have NO EXPLANATION for except that somehow...

I blame Neene. She distracted me. Not that we were talking or anything, but you know..she is just online and stuff with her quiet and dignified presence.

Click here for the nice water colory NORMAL photo that doesn't make me say 'Sweet Jesus' when I look at it.

(And yes I REALIZE I am only splitting hairs and that unless you have a properly calibrated monitor you won't even know what I'm talking about. When people tell me offline in conversation that they don't know what I'm talking about, I scream at them: 'CALIBRATE YOUR MONITOR!' It usually confuses them further because I rarely discuss photos or computer issues offline.)

The Only Thing I Do Know Is I Don't Know Shit. (scroll down 8 images)

1/320 s, f/4.0

I am SICK of blown out skies. I overexpose all the time. These shots are unprocessed. I'm shooting with a Canon S2 IS which has an fairly common but severly limited aperture range of 2.8 to 8. I *WANT* 1.4 to 32 but my life is full of ungranted wants. Given this handicapping condition my question for anyone that knows anything about this photography thing IS....

Will a filter help this? Even one of those funky half ND filters? Is this a metering issue? The aperture is f/4.0 on most of these because the camera goes to that by default I think. Would putting it to f/8 help at all? And do all these things simply set the shutterspeed faster? Is that all I need to do? Am I kidding myself here? Should I only be shooting in manual mode? Should I calm down?

Anyone?

Anyone?

Bueller?

Stones and Bones

Reposted for Pxite: Stone.

Your lowly and humble photographic servant would like to thank the TWO Gentle Viewers (One of which I think was me) who voted for Pxite: Library enabling a LOCK on a NINE way tie for SECOND PLACE!!!

First place ran away with THREE votes. OOOOH! I was sooooo close.

I'm honored to just squeak ahead of the FIFTEEN way tie for Third place of people who VOTED FOR THEMSELVES! (Which makes me wonder if maybe I voted for myself from home and work...Hmmmm).

And of course, I offer a 'Better Luck Next Time, LOSERS!' to the THIRTY ONE way tie for 4th place of people with too much pride to vote for themselves or who posted and never looked back. Posted by Picasa

Requiem in Pace

They're gonna put me in the movies
They're gonna make a big star out of me
We'll make a film about a man that's sad and lonely
And all I have to do is act naturally.

Thursday Challenge: Energy

This SHOULD read "You will get a call at 9pm from the local police after we call in your license plate number you pasty white middle aged ISLAMIC TERRORIST and if your Mom answers the phone you will be GROUNDED, YOUNG MAN!" because that is what happened. Well, except for being grounded. I answered the phone.

I have no beef with the oil companies. How can I? They have the oil I NEED. I LOVE them. Maybe in that same way that a battered woman loves her abusive man, but it's a form of love just the same. ExxonMobil, I want to worship at your oil soaked altar, I want to bathe in your Sweet Texas Light, I want to slather my pasty white middle aged body (see above) with your 87 Octane!

If you enjoyed this post, you can read more about it in Daniel Yergin's Best Selling Oil PORN Magnum Opus, The Prize. You'll be the better for it. Honest. I am.

SPRING!

The Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race takes place every April when the snow melt makes the Kenduskeag navigable. Well, if you can call this navigable. The most popular place to watch the race is at 6 Mile Falls where this is NOT a rare occurance.

Fourth in a series of 'Macros of Crap on my Desk®'

I was chatting with a photoblogger who wishes to remain nameless while posting these and mentioned that I think this series is getting stupid to which she replied "You realize it just now?"

My favorite Peanut? PigPen.

Note to Kalani, this isn't what you mentioned in your last comment but if it shows up there I'll get another macro for you. ;)
