Coming Soon! People at Work®: The Circus!
This week the Anah Temple Shrine, Royal Hanneford Circus, and Bangor Auditorium graciously granted your lowly and humble photographic servant complete and unfettered access to this years Anah Temple Shrine Circus.
All I had really wanted was a chance to take a photo I had missed a few years ago of clowns just hanging out what I got was a better and more complete photo set of the inner workings and all the steps that go into preparing for the circus and the performers and performances themselves.
I also met MANY MANY great people. Did you guys know that the Shriners have a photographic unit along with the clowns and go karts? me either! So brace yourself for an onslaught of images in the coming days and weeks.

That clown photo is the exact photo I wish I didn't click to see details! Why are so many humans terrified of clowns????? ... other than the clowns, I can't WAIT to see the INSIDE of a circus!
ReplyDeleteAli: You aren't REALLY scared of clowns until you are in a room full of them and they are in costume but not in character. I cry myself to sleep now with the lights on.
ReplyDeleteWhen my niece was little she was afraid of clowns. So, we had her watch my sister-in-law put her clown make-up on. (Sharon did a stint as Bingo the Clown at the Ground Round). After that, clowns with red hair were cool. The rest of the clowns... not so much.
ReplyDeleteBingo was hawt.
ReplyDeleteThat first girl is like when Spiderman goes evil....except instead of Spiderman it's Targetgirl.
ReplyDeleteAs one of the Shrine clowns, I can tell you that we are all just normal people, of course until we put on our makeup. We all enjoy making children smile and raising money and awareness of our Shrine Hospitals. Looking forward to seeing your pictures and it was a pleasure meeting you at the circus. It was so nice to see all our fans at this years circus.
ReplyDeleteWHat Shamrock doesn't mention is that to most of the kid, these clowns are ROCK STARS. Kids were practially leaning into the ring for autographs, ballons and what-have you. One of the clowns also explained about how it's normal for children (and a few adults) to be scared of clowns and part of the training is how to spot those in a crowd who may be and avoid direct eye contact until the child appears to feel safe.
ReplyDeleteStay tuned for MORE Anah Shrine Clown photos!
Hey! That's Shamrock right on the end in the green coat autographing a program.
