Moth

Macro Day: Soft

Moth Fur. Sweaters made of moth very VERY rare and expensive because of the high cost associated with keeping and feeding so many moths. They are fed only the finest wool sweaters.

Also, they wiggle around a lot when you try to shave them with the tiny moth shears.

I thought I had a once in a lifetime macro until I saw this at Deborah Lattimore's site.

Telford Aviation Yard

"And..and...and then I had a plane and I kept it in my yard and my friends came over and brought thiers." As told to me by an 5 year old today. I told him that I might have a picture of just that. He told me it wasn't it because his planes were "just metal". Posted by Hello

Hey, Mom! Look what I won today!

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't have seen it, but the prize for catching the pig was, in fact, the pig. They bagged them up and gave them to whoever caught it. Posted by Hello

bobo puppyhead comics by dan wheeler

Dan draws this cool little strip and posts it to his blog.

It speaks of truths as clear, timeless and universal as the rain.

His protagonists and antagonists are men and women represented with clear little shapes. The easier to put yourself in the strip, Gentle Viewer, because it is about you, and me, and all of us.

Go read it. Now. Go! Shoo!

Spoiled kids.

Damn, when I went to school there the dorms didn't even have CABLE! Sometimes I like to post pics that aren't AHT but are inside jokes that make me chuckle. Posted by Hello

Driftwood

Please note that the driftwood, the focus of and reason for takng this photo, is properly set in the lower right quarter of the frame. This diftwood log is believed to be pine and has been soaked in fresh water from the brook and salt water from tide water which backs up into the stream. Driftwood exhibits many interesting curves and shapes over the years of exposure to the elements. I hope to complete more driftwood studies next summer.

Repost: I received a telephone call from the local police 9pm the evening after taking this shot. They wanted me to know that an employee of the tank farm had called in my license plate number and that I wasn't doing anything wrong, but that I should understand how things are now. I sort of chuckled about it and told friends until I saw a posting once about protecting Photography in the Public Space or something and I posted the link to this on it. This in turn was picked up by several blogs with LOTS of traffic and my once quiet little blog started to get hundreds of hits per day. I received a few emails asking about 'being hassled' and 'losing our freedoms' but I never really saw it that way. More like we've become a nation of Gladys Kravitzs but I'm not convinced that's horrible. I've gotten more grief taking photos of buildings downtown by self important advocates for the homeless who tell me I ''better not' be taking pics of the homeless teens. (Please note, no pics of homeless teens.)
