The Thing of the Moment on this the Occasion of it's 4th Birthday

Appropriately enough without a photo.

The Thing of the Moment was started 4 years ago this evening as a way to show off some Christmas photos for my family and, like a few other online projects, just to see how it worked.

As a way to show images, it worked as expected.

As a way to make new friends, see old friends, meet and learn from some of the most talented photographers, bloggers, and enthusiasts of topics covered here, from all over the world, it has far exceeded expectations.

The Thing of the Moment would be nothing but a moment passed if not for you, Gentle Viewers.

I've enjoyed, far more than you can imagine, your comments, kind words, unkind words, support, inspiration, and challenges.

I humbly thank you from the bottom of my heart.

One minute they are asking fake jewlery and make up for Christmas.

Then cell phones and money...

Then they are sending you Instant Messages asking if you can teach them how to post videos to YouTube.

I know I was supposed to bring the economy to its knees by not shopping any more but I didn't have a Smart Phone yet. Now that I do, the World Economy is further screwed. Sell your stocks on the Asian markets tonight kiddos because it's going to be rat bastard ugly in the morning! You can have your iPhones and yer Touch Screens but I wanted a challenge. I wanted keys the size of commas and look at those fingers! I hit 7 keys at a time. And the damned thing STILL works. This was a little birthday present to myself. How old am I? Old enough so that below is the last phone I bought as a birthday present for myself.

Until it's back on track in a couple of weeks I *AM* cleaning up my flickr so you can go over there now without banging your head or tripping over stuff although it still need to be cleaned up a little more.
