Moody Monday: Audacious

Gutsy Urban Kayaker, Scott Anchors braving the Kenduskeag Stream during snow melt which reminds me I ought to hook up with him again. Although I'll stay on solid ground.

Black and White Music

It's not dust, it's warm ambient background noise. Posted by Picasa

Macroday: Shiny

These are prisms from a pair of broken binoculars... Ok, poorly focused and unusable therefore ripped apart to see what was inside. I just sort of like the colors and abstract nature. And the last time there was a 'shiny' theme I posted this and got nothing but grief. :)

Sinclair Gasoline

I was explaining to Gentle Viewer and Excessive Breeder Cryden about a defunct oil company and gas station chain called Sinclair, he later, and to his GREAT delight, told me that Sinclair Gasoline Stations still existed. I thought they went the way of Flying A Stations and, well, dinosaurs. They have a little history of the Dino Logo here. (If Flying A Stations still exist, let me know! The Dinosaurs I feel good about)

WERU FM 89.9 Blue Hill, 102.9 Bangor www.weru.org

When I was just a wee little baby photographer, my friend Brook (seen here with soon to be husband and co-host Mark) was one of the first people to tell me I ought to do something besides take photos to use as a screen saver. Then she allowed me to take this series of photos, one of which ended up being used for their wedding announcement. I still brag it up. Clearly.

Today I get this email from her:

Don't miss our show next Monday, March 6 from 7:00am-9:00am eastern time. We'll be spinnin' the best new tunes, playing some old favorites and raising money for our local community radio station, WERU FM. Go to www.weru.org and click on the "listen now" button at the top of the page. You can listen with itunes or Real Player. If you're so inclined, call in and make a pledge for grass roots community radio on the coast of Maine. Catch you then, Brook

So now, among other things, they are big radio stars. What else are they? People who are learning that if you have a friend take photos of and for you...

make sure that YOU get all the copies of the images.

"I try. Lord, how I try."

There is this guy, Mick, who binds freaking books for a living. He's got a dog, a motorcycle, every piece of photographic equipment ever invented, and a million demonic toys. They are the toys that nightmares are made of, if ummm...you know, you just had nightmares about toys. He uses them brilliantly and I hate him for burning them into my brain.

Every now and then when looking at his blog, I think, 'Hey! That's SIMPLE! I could do that!' If, you know, only I had some little toys from an insane asylum, some camera gear from a small private German collection, and the eye of a genius. That's all I need.

Check out the evil bastard if you haven't already. And leave a comment. He hates that.

Thursday Challenge: Black and White

A full color photo of the black barn next door as seen from my desk during a snowstorm.

It seemed too easy to just post a Black and White version of something that has natural color. Of course, sitting at my desk and taking this photo was no real strain either. Posted by Picasa
