I was amazed to find out just how big a sport kiting has become. I never gave it much consideration until last summer when the woman I was dating at the time went looking for one for a gift. Turns out there are whole stores devoted to it, and the kites themselves have become engineering marvels.
It's a far cry from the newspaper and stick jobs we used to make in my childhood.
