People at Work: The Mussel Men (Lumpers)
When I was a kid, no one ate mussels. Only clams. Mussels just grew on the beach in thick masses. They weren't buried in the mud, so how good could they be? The seagulls are right. They are GREAT. There are far fewer on beaches now, and many are grown on ropes that hang from floating docks.

ReplyDeleteYou know, they used to think that whitefish was junk too. Now it is almost all the fish sticks and breaded fillets on the market.
