Things I Have Learned Today®
Today's teacher, my niece, sstout. (on the right. )
1) Cheering is a sport.
2) Cheering is the only sport that supports another sport.
3) It doesn't matter how pixie-ish and light she seems, when you throw a girl in the air and catch her, she comes down HARD, and it can hurt as much as any tackle.
4) Nothing makes you feel your age like having an entire squad of Cheerleaders call you "Uncle"

So I can't call you Uncle Jeff? Or does it just sting when it is teenage cheerleaders? :-)
ReplyDeleteI sometimes watch cheering competitions on TV. Man! Those girls, and guys, really go all out- and their teeth do sometimes too.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely is not a sport for wusses!
laanba: It stings wqhen anyone older than a preschooler does it. ALTHOUGH, I did direct my neices and nephews to call me Uncle in PUBLIC, only because I did not want to be thought of as a non-custodial Disney Dad. Heh heh.
ReplyDeleteSylvana: I sometimes watch them, too. Now I'll feel dirtier about it. :)
I hate to sound feminist in a bad way but the reason cheerleading is not valued as a sport (which it really is) is because females primarily do it.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to ask her if she think dance is a sport, too!
ReplyDeletejm: You are such a feminist in a bad way. Look at Field Hockey! That is primarilly a female sport and look at the National Tournaments and the coverage it gets. Field Hockey October Madness? You can't turn ON a TV in October without seeing a woman in a plaid skirt wielding a stick!
ReplyDelete3LK: She has studio pics?
erik: She says, No, but kicking your ass for mocking cheerleaders is. But I'll protect you, Bro.
cheerleading....95% gymnast i guessed...
ReplyDeletegravity defying act...
now if gymnastic is a posrt..why not cheerleading?
