The Mothra of the Moment: Columbia Silkmoth (Hyalaphora columbia)

I don't know much about moths and even less about birds and bees. The only thing I DO know, Gentle Viewer, is that isn't MY hand in the 3rd photo!! Posted by Picasa

An Official Ray Boston Kazoo

The only musical instrument I ever mastered. A Member of the Brass family, I believe. Ray Boston used to play bars in New England in the mid 80s. He'd leave a pail of these on stage and you could go up and buy one for a buck and be part of the Ray Boston All Kazoo Review.

On the Level

Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery?

If so I am blatantly flattering Frank at :photoschau. When I saw his 'off-level leveled level', titled 'Crooked', I had one of those "Hey, cool!" followed by "Damn, I wish I had thought of that!" moments. As many Gentle Viewers know my most original ideas are usually lifted from someone else. Sort of like Newton saying that if he sees far it is because he stands on the shoulders of giants. Frank's photo can be seen here.

As I think about this, maybe we could make these a new meme sometime. Find an image you like, try your own hand at the subject, post it and link back to the original.

Introducing: Svetlana Tazhetdinova

Back when I was a wee baby lowly and humble photographic servant I only forced my photos on people I knew rather than ther public at large. One of these unfortunate souls is the lovely Svetlana Tazhetdinova (nee Kohkryakova). She encouraged me by printing and framing several photos to post in the offices of the I. Mylnikov Co in Angarsk Siberia. My ONLY showing in Angarsk Siberia to this day! However, I think it may be my last. Svetlana has figured out that if I can do it then she can better it. She's also entered some Photo Memes which now means she is no longer a friend but a fierce COMPETITOR! Heh heh.

Stop by her site, take a look around and say 'Privet.'

P.S. She's not a Russian Mail Order Bride or anything but only because my check didn't clear the bank. :)

Pxite: Symbol

(This image removed out of respect for my dear close personal Brazilian friend Pix66 who taught me the absurdity of an unmonitored vote based photo meme. I wish him the best of luck in posting other's images and voting for himself because, apparently, that's what Pxite has become. *kiss*)

Masonic Hall Fire - Bangor, Maine

Back when I was a wee little baby lowly and humble photographic servant there were old Masonic halls burning down after days of sub zero temperatures allowing the water to freeze on contact with the cold brick ALL THE TIME. Now it hardly ever happens.

Macroday: Connection

Welcome back, Carlo.

Ok, I wasn't going to say anything but hiding the fact means I need a 12 Step program more than revealing it.

This is my 2000th post.

Thanks for the memory, Google!

Will You Put Us On Your Blog?

Why, yes I will.

This is my neice, Sara, with the black line coming out of her head and these are her friends sans black line.

She is graduating from High School this year and tonight was her last Chorus gig. I've been going to her 'last' things all year. I think it's important I go because nothing will measure up to those heady end-of-High-School days.

My college graduation was boring so I skipped it. Graduate school graduation was a yawn so I just got my degree in the mail. My Nobel and Pulitzer ceremonies were SORT of fun. But NOTHING can top High School graduation.
