Sears Tower
And while we are in Chicago...
My friend Paul is one of those friends that ANYONE I meet through him is cool. It's just a given. He is like a cool FILTER with a 98% accuracy rating.
On a recent trip to Maine he called and said he was bringing his wife, his dog, and his realtor.
How cool is that?
His realtor is Bob Darrow-West, a VERY cool guy. An avid photographer and budding photoblogger if I can get him more interested in posting his photos online.
Check out his site and flickr for some great shots of Chicago. Just remember, if you BUY something through, give him my card So I can get my 10% finders fee.
He's also a Sitemeter addict like me so just click the links so he's impressed with the massive amounts of traffic!

TtV Heroes
Actually, I might as well just start pointing them out. Your lives are only the lesser for it without them.
I Didn't Take This
But for the rest of my life I'll wish I had. It's perfect in so many ways.
It was taken by the evil Genius of TtV and artist Steven Hight.
Go see his TtV shots on his flickr site. You'll thank me. Well, if you like brilliant TtV shots.

There's Not a Single Person In The World Who Can Make a Pencil
But my Dad used to make THIS part.
It's called a Ferrule as found by Gentle Viewer Russ Schmidt.
See Milton Friedman explain it here.

Impassioned Impasto (Google it if you must, I had to)
Roberta is JAZZED! (And carrying a mean set of pipes in this image. She must be working out when no one is looking.)
She decided to paint a photo I had taken of Ledge Falls. I initially wasn't going to post this because a photo of a painting is a derivative work, but I suppose a photo of a painting of a photo is ok.
Enjoy,
jkirlin, philistine.

Meet Gentle Viewer JIK
Well, she's not a barn but she does enjoy a nice foliage photo. She's a graduate student in some mud related field somewhere on the Gulf Coast where leaves stay green. She's cute, sassy, and cold blooded. No, really. This girl reportedly wears sweaters if it drops to a bone chilling 85 degrees. How did she earn her credibility with me? Frequent Gentle Comments? No, those are nice but that's not it.
Shortly after her place was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina, she posted about another upcoming hurricane... and followed it with a smiley.
She's hardcore. :)
Check her out.

Mean Don, American Hero
My Buddy, Mean Don, is nearing retirement from the Army in March but first has to do a stint in Baghdad where he is now.
Before he left I asked him if he was ok going at his age and so close to retirement.
"Yeah, and I'll be able to get you more of those little Tabasco bottles you like."
GOOD MAN!

Babybel
The cheese is ok but the packaging ROCKS! Cheese dipped in wax and wrapped in cellophane? That has GOT to taste good.
Good packaging makes me think food tastes better. LIKE THIS! Yum!

THE KIRLIN SPORTS GENE!!!
YES!!!!!!!!!!
I knew someone must have it! It's recessive to be sure, but with so many nieces and nephews surely ONE got it!
kkirlin, soccer goalie.
Now I'm not sure, but I think a hellish struggle with the ball was occuring RIGHT OUTSIDE THE FRAME!
Attagirl! Cool as a cucumber. She once lost a baseball game 20 - 19 with her team giving up 9 runs in the last inning. I wasn't paying much attention as they were jumping up and down with glee... "We only lost by ONE point!!!"
