and.....ummmm....on TOP NEWCOMERS....I'm...let's see if I can't find me..... NUMBER 98! WOOOO! GO ME!

Although someone de-favorited me. I don't know who it is yet, but when I find them they will be sorry!

  2. To clarify, do you have a link to your listing on photoblogs? I am unaware of such a site and curious. Also...how do you vote? I'd vote for your stuff as I quite like the pics that you have listed here. I have had a chance to go through them and they are impressive. I am a fan of photography, but never had the eye for it. It's quite hard, I think.

  3. To further clarify, I was so pleased to have a comment from the esteemed Blog Ho that I sent a 'GUSHING' fan thank you back to him, THEN after my pulse returned to normal, I thought he was ever so cleverly suggesting that perhaps I had a GOOD Blog somewhere else on the web that he wanted to see, so then I replied with a VICIOUS attack (as much as a gushing fan can) and now I feel stupid. All is well between me and Ho. *still gushing*

  4. hehe. that's funny. i'm not even 1/4 that clever, though. not even 1/4 * 1/4.

  5. Forget clever. Forget funny. Someone de-favorited me today as well. Only, I think I can figure it out if I really try. I suggest we round up a posse and go after these ne'er-do-wells. I mean, what is this dude thinking? I'm trying to climb the ladder of success one painful rung at a time, and someone removes a rung. Bam. Down I go. Ouch. I don't have to be treated this way. C'mon boys, saddle up your horses. Let's ride out.

  6. SACRE BLEU!!!

bassett, if anyone tells you I am emailing people on your faves list to tell them that you are only collecting favorites so that you can contact them to sell Amway under you, just because you did that to me and several others, they are liars!

  7. hey abhi,

Well that was BASSETT does when he's not trolling for Amway® Sales Reps among his faves to add to his stable. But I think what happened with me and what I had to do a couple of times, was that I had a few people who became 'Anonymous' for having over 100 faves. I also tried to get bassett to join me in knocking old Kenny Sides of ShutterattheThought back down under 100 in case he got too big for his britches. But bassett knew that would hurt his karma and he was flirting with the century mark and didn't want it to come back to bite him. (He's such a straight shooter) I've had people simply ask me to add them to my favorites and if it was warranted, I did. My faves may not be the best, but they are, My faves.

Oh, that and the people who do it are jerk offs because I use Blogger. HEAR THAT YOU NON BLOGGER USING PHOTOBLOGGING JERK OFFS???? Heh heh

*kissing my 30 votes goodbye* ;)

  8. I feel my honor has been challenged with this spurious Amway charge. Besides, I only network market with Gay-bashing, transvestite lesbian homophobes. If anyone in this list qualifies, get in touch. (And to think I actually voted for one of your shots on that contest site about round or circle or something.)

  9. You only voted for the 'money shot'. But you impressed aughra and that ain't easy, my friend.

  10. Hm, gnbassett's take on this is very interesting, seeing as how he also added me as a favorite and a few days later, dropped me. (I guess I didn't add him to my favorites soon enough. Oh well.)

I don't have a huge problem with this as I have myself readjusted my favorites list (since my favorites do change over time) and it's really hard to stay under 100 if you're browsing through lots of photoblogs, but let's not pretend that it's only other people out there doing this, 'kay North Coast?

As for Kenny Sides of ShutterattheThought, I discovered he's got a second account that he uses to add you when you agree to add him. That way you bump his photoblog up, but he doesn't have to waste a favorite on you from his main account. I was kind of annoyed when I saw that, but then I figured, oh well, I still get a favorite from him, and isn't that what matters. Sigh. Probably not. His is not a favorite I feel compelled to keep now. But I will for now because I do often enjoy his photos. If he drops me, then I'll just enjoy his photos from my watchlist.

    What a game, huh?

  11. Again, I find my honor has been impuned (and please understand, that doesn't really bother me, I consider it grist for good commentary)

First of all, I consider loyalty to be of greater importance than technical skill. Let's face it, the vast majority of us are amateurs (some, very good amateurs) and always will be. 5% of the sites I visit are head and shoulders above me. 5% of the site I visit aren't very good technically (but I hope they are at least having fun.) The rest of us sort out in the middle somewhere.

I play the game straight up. If someone votes for me, I vote for them: the relationship is more important to me that the technical quality of the site. There have been a few rare circumstances where I just could not reciprocate.

I am deepley flattered when someone votes for me. As I said, I return the vote whenever possible. Over time, that has given me cause to drop a vote to a site that I otherwise find to be enjoyable, entertaining, spectacular in quality, and on and on; so that I can return a vote. Since there are no written rules concerning votes, this is the way I feel I best support the portion of the community which is supporting me.

As far as loyalty goes, I visit EVERY site on my favorites list a minimum of twice each week (some much more). I visit everyone who has voted for me a minimum of twice each week. Without fail. I wonder how many can truthfully make that claim? Like I said, I feel loyalty to the community is more important than technical quality.

I have gathered 100 votes. I'll not likely get more. That's OK. I will never do a second account for the purpose of more votes. I know of several who employ this strategy. I don't need to name them, you know who they are. Whatever, that's not for me.

Now, lets take on jkirlin. I've taken a few barbs from him and considered everyone of them to be in good fun. His enthusiasm, interest, wit, hilarity, and loyalty (yes, loyalty) to both my site, and to the community as a whole have been deeply appreciated.

My advice to any photoblogger is do whatever you can to support the community. Do nothing to tear it down.

Personally, if I can make someone smile because they visited my sight and enjoyed either the photo or the commentary, I've met my goal.

My sincerest regards to all of you. (And I don't sell Amway)

Next mission: pump up jkirlin's vote count. Wait and see.
